Joel Downing, National Basketball Association
Joel grew up in Hempstead Long Island, New York. He graduated from Hofstra University with an BS in Psychology in December of 1986.
Joel Joined the New York State Police shortly after finishing college. While with the NYSP, Joel served in several details: Queens District Attorney's Office Rackets/Organized Crime Bureau, FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force/Cargo theft task force and provided dignitary protect for NY State Governor and other Governors.
Joel was also in charge of the NY Jets Football teams security police escort detail. Joel rose to the rank of Senior Investigator before retiring after 20 years of service. Joel is currently a Senior Manager in the NBA security department.
